With the Spanish Steps, Piazza di Spagna is one of the most famous squares in Rome

Piazza di Spagna it is one of the most famous squares in Rome. Its name derives from the presence of the Spanish Embassy, since the seventeenth century.
The stairs of the square, built at the beginning of the 18th century to connect the square with the Church of the Trinità dei Monti, are the most characteristic element of the Spanish Steps.
The fountain that occupies the center of the square was designed by Pietro Bernini for Pope Urban III. Its construction was completed in 1627 by his son, Gian Lorenzo Bernini.
The Barcaccia Fountain has the shape of a boat and we find engraved with the Bernini family emblems: suns and bees.
