There Trevi Fountain it is the largest and one of the most famous fountains in Rome.
Its realization is due to Pope Clement XII who in 1732 launched a competition in which the major artists of the time took part. The pope chooses the most monumental and one of the least prejudicial for the building behind it from the plans of the architect Nicola Salvi (1697-1751). on whose facade the entire exhibition is inserted with a thoughtful study of proportions and decorations.
The construction was completed by Giuseppe Pannini (c.1720-c.1810) who partially modified the cliff by regularizing the central basins.
